Ingredients

1 C. sugar
1 C. salad dressing
2 C. flour
4 Tbs. flour (if you're making a yellow cake) or cocoa (if you're making a chocolate cake)
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 C. lukewarm water
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix sugar and salad dressing together. Add soda, salt and vanilla.  Mix well.  Gradually add flour (and cocoa if for chocolate cake), alternating with lukewarm water. Mix until mixture is smooth.  Pour mixture into a greased 9x13 in. cake pan and bake until toothpick comes out clean, about 1/2 hour.

Note: For a spice cake, instead of 4 Tbs. flour or cocoa, add 2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 t nutmeg, and 1/4 tsp. allspice or 1 level Tbs. pumpkin spice.
