Presentation Pointers:

1. For a nice and simple centerpiece, buy a few fall gourds at the grocery store and place them in a ceramic or glass bowl. Pile them high so your guests can admire them throughout the meal. An alternative: fill a vase with cranberries and put your flowers over them.

2. Dress your table with autumn colors like browns, golds, oranges and reds. Complete your look with tablecloths, plasticware and even plates in this color scheme.

3. Let your guests help you do the final assembly. Have them put side dishes into bowls and set the table while you take care of the rest.

  • Although I commend the author's attempt to offer up vegetarian dishes, I still see alot of squash, pumpkin, sweet potatoe, apple, pear and other "sweet" dishes....egads, enough with the sweet stuff, doesn't anyone have any truly savory, elegant dishes to offer? I was a vegan for over 12 years and taught myself to cook gourmet veggie dishes, vegan actually, and compiled a storehouse of recipes, mostly my own creations, mostly with rich, deep sauces used sparingly on "ordinary" veggies. And enough with the so-called fall colors. I live in the desert and fall colors do not apply! Liven it up guys! Stop with the matchy-matchy crap and put some ZING in dressing the table and addressing the palate. Four out of five of the main course options are squash and pumpkin! I like those veggies as much as the next person, but come on....!!! Call me, we'll do lunch, and I will give you the most spectacular culinary adventure of a veggie meal!
