4 Spring and Summer Lemonade Recipes

Lemonade tastes even better when you throw seasonal fruits into the mix. Spring and summer is the perfect time to experiment with different lemonade recipes. Having a picnic or cookout? Make an adult version by adding a splash of vodka!

Watermelon Lemonade:

  •    1 1/2 lb. watermelon chunks
  •     2 C. ice cubes
  •     3/4 C. sugar
  •     2 Limes, juice of
  •     2 Lemons, juice of

Combine half of all the ingredients together in blender container. Blend on low until smooth; strain through fine mesh strainer. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Stir two batches together in pitcher. Serve over ice.

Strawberry Lemonade:

  •     3 C. water
  •     1 1/2 C. sugar
  •     6 C. strawberries
  •     1 C. lemon juice

Heat water and sugar until sugar is completely dissolved; let cool then chill. Puree berries in blender or food processor; combine with water-sugar mixture. Add lemon juice. Serve over ice.
Lavender Blueberry Lemonade:

  • 3 C. blueberries
  • 1 C. lemon juice   
  • 1/2-3/4 C. sugar
  • 4 C. water
  • 1-1 1/2 tsp. fresh or dried lavender buds

In a 4-quart bowl or heat-proof pitcher use the back of a wooden spoon to lightly mash blueberries. Add juice from lemons, reserve rinds. Mix juice with sugar. In a saucepan bring water and lavender to boiling. Pour through strainer over lemon juice mixture, stir to dissolve sugar. Add lemon rinds. Cover and refrigerate 2 to 3 hours. Remove and discard rinds. Strain through a mesh sieve into a pitcher.

Vodka Lemonade:

  • ice cubes
  • mint
  • raspberries
  • 1 1/2 C. superfine sugar
  • 1/2 C. boiling water
  • Zest of one lemon
  • 1 1/2 C. lemon juice
  • 4 C. cold water
  • 1 C. chilled lemon-flavored vodka

Place one mint leaf or 2 raspberries into each compartment of an ice cube tray. Fill with water and freeze. Combine sugar and boiling water; stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Let simmer 5 minutes. Cool. Add lemon zest and lemon juice, stir and refrigerate until ready to use. To prepare lemonade, combine the lemonade syrup, cold water and vodka in a glass pitcher. Stir to combine. Add a few ice cubes to the pitcher for a decorative accent. Fill tall glasses with mint and raspberry ice cubes. Pour lemonade over. Garnish with a mint sprig. You can omit the vodka from the pitcher and add to individual glasses as desired.
