6 Ways To Spice Up Your Oatmeal

Oatmeal's healthy, but it can quickly get boring. Here are some tips to quickly add some zing to your next bowl of hot oats!

PB&J- Bring the tastes of the childhood favorite to your next bowl of oatmeal. Just make a plain bowl of oats. When it's done, add a drop or two or real vanilla extract and top it with a tablespoon each of peanut butter and your favorite jam or jelly! How much easier can it get?

Sweet Potato- Why not bring the flavors of the holiday favorite to your next breakfast? Just make the plain oats as normal, top with a tablespoon of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of sweet potato filling, and a dash of vanilla extract. If you're feeling indulgent, add some mini-marshmallows too!

Peanut Butter Banana- It tastes just as good as it sounds, plus it has a whole banana in it! Just prepare the oats as normal, add one sliced banana, and a scoop or two of peanut butter. It's like the sandwich, just without the bread!

Tropical- If you've got the winter blues and want a taste of the tropics, just add 1/4 cup of canned diced pineapple into your next bowl. Top the oatmeal with some shredded coconut, and you'll be saying "Aloha!" every morning!

Chocolate Cookie Dough- Since cookie dough has raw egg, use a tablespoon of cream cheese to simulate the texture. Then throw in a handful or two of chocolate chips to recreate the taste! You'll start every day with a smile on your face!

Key Lime Pie- Instead of having a slice of the pie, why not bring the flavors to your oatmeal? Just zest and juice a lime and add it to your oatmeal. Throw in some crushed graham crackers and a tablespoon or two of cream cheese. It's tart and hearty at the same time!
