Beef Stroganoff Recipes, Hints & Videos

Once considered a high-end meal, beef stroganoff has changed into a family friendly and easy recipe to make. Originally a Russian dish from the 19th century, the basic recipe consists of sautéed beef and sour cream. As it traveled around the world, ingredients such as mushrooms, onions and tomato paste were added.

In the US, stroganoff is served over white rice or noodles and can be made from strips of beef as well as stew meat and hamburger. It has the added benefit of being easily doubled and tripled to serve large groups. But whether you're a gourmand or just trying to get dinner on the table, there's no denying that beef stroganoff makes an elegant and tasty meal.

Beef Stroganoff

This is a very filling meal that feeds a bunch when you're stretching your dollars!


1 large pkg. stewing beef

1-2 large onions

2-3 Tbs. minced garlic

3-4 cans mushrooms

1 can cream of chicken soup

1 container sour cream

2 tsp. flour (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 bag egg noodles

6-7 large potatoes


In a large skillet, combine beef, garlic and onions. Cook until beef is browned through and onions are transparent. Add mushrooms and cook for 5-7 minutes. Add soup and bring to boil. Once boiling, turn down to low, cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Add sour cream and cook only until sour cream is warm. Cook the noodles, and mash the potatoes. When dishing it out put a thin layer of potatoes on plate, add layer of noodles and then add a scoop of beef mixture.
