Cooking In The Microwave: Basics on Saving Time
For a healthier option, vegetables are a must. However, taking the time to boil vegetables the traditional way can be terribly time consuming, which is why you may want to microwave them. To quickly cook fresh vegetables, put them in a microwave safe glass container with a small amount of water and cover lightly with a lid. For every 150 grams of vegetables, microwave for 3 minutes on high.
Forget the oven or skillet. You can also microwave fish to perfection. For every 125 grams of fish fillets, microwave on high for 2 minutes. This should be done in a glass microwave safe dish. Before putting the fish in the microwave, you can add a touch of butter and season it with your favorite spices.
If fish isn't your preferred flavor, you can also microwave chicken. You can microwave chicken by putting it in a large microwave safe dish and turning the microwave on high for five minutes. Once the five minutes are through, remove the dish from the microwave and drain the chicken fat. Season with salt, pepper, onion powder, and add thinly sliced potatoes and other vegetables such as corn or green beans. Then, microwave on high for another ten minutes.
For a healthy and delicious dessert, you can quickly make dried fruit compote. Just microwave a cup of apple juice and orange juice in the microwave for a minute in a microwave safe dish. Add 1.5 cups of your favorite dried fruit and microwave for another two minutes. Set aside for one hour to allow the fruit to soak in the juice. Just like that you have a delicious and healthy snack for later.
