Delicious No-Bake Desserts For The Baking Inept (Like Me)

I’ve said it about 100 times, but I love to cook but can’t bake to save my life. Lately, I’ve been finding myself in situations that require me to make dessert.

I don’t know what these people are thinking when they ask me to make dessert, but I always feel like I should do more than just picking something up from the bakery and passing it off as homemade. Yes, I am saying I have done that before, and no people never believe me, no surprise there. So here are three of my favorite no-bake desserts for everyone else who’s baking disabled.

No-Bake Samoas- The Samoas are hands-down my favorite of the girl scout cookies. Since they aren’t sold year round, I get depressed because I know anything I’d bake wouldn’t come anywhere close to the originals. Let’s call it Seasonal Samoa Disorder (SSD). The cure is this no-bake version of the cookies that incorporates all the flavors into dessert bars.

No-Bake Lemon Cheesecake- I think that by choosing recipes that have no-bake in the title, you get the idea of how easy they are. Normally, I’m a huge chocolate fan, but every now and then I like a more refreshing dessert. Lemon cakes are my favorite of the non-chocolate desserts, but to make one from scratch involves baking. We all know how that’d turn out. That’s why I love this lemon cheesecake recipe. It still has a ton of tangy flavor, but I don’t risk burning down the kitchen.

Nutella Puppy Chow-  … and we’re back to chocolate. Thank God. Nutella is delicious all on its own (I’ve NEVER eaten it out of the container with a spoon, if that’s what you’re imagining), but combined with Chex cereal, white chocolate, and powdered sugar, it’s a euphoric experience. There’s something simple and amazing with a sweet and salty crunch. This is a great treat for kids’ bake sales too, since it can be portioned out. Just make sure to not feed it to the dogs!
