Drug Recipes, Hints & Videos

Before the advent of modern medicine, HMOs and hospitals, humans were using natural remedies. Although they didn't know about the anti-bacterial properties of moldy bread, ancient Greeks used it on infected scrapes and cuts. Ancient Egyptians practiced a rudimentary form of brain surgery when they drilled holes into the heads of people who had severe head injuries. And today, we used many forms of natural herbs as remedies for many illnesses from cramps to colds. In fact, using natural remedies to replace over-the-counter drugs has become a billion dollar industry.

Although you should never stop taking a prescribed medication, you can help more common ailments along with good old-fashioned homemade remedies. In some cases if you're just fighting a flu or the cold, you may want to try one of these natural solutions instead of an over-the-counter medication.

Gel Pack

Don't spend money on those expensive ice packs – make them at home for cheap!

Ingredients

3 parts water

1 part rubbing alcohol

Directions

Mix, then seal in a freezer bag, then encase in a second bag. Place in the freezer. The more alcohol you use, the softer the pack will be, making it gentler on injuries than an ice pack. Wrap loosely in a towel and apply to injuries.
