Healthy Fast Food Alternatives

Sometimes it’s hard to kick a fast food craving. One minute you find yourself heading to the nearest drive-thru and the next minute you’re struggling with guilt and an expanding waistline. Wouldn’t it be nice if your food could have all the flavor of fast food but not the grease and calories? It is possible. Check out these healthy ways to indulge in your favorite junk foods.

Burgers

Goat Cheese and Spinach Turkey Burger: An awesome way to add some extra flavor to your turkey burger.

All-Star Veggie Burger: This veggie burger is a great alternative to eating its beefy cousin. It's high in fiber and as a stand-alone patty, actually tastes pretty good. Once you layer the ketchup, the mustard, pickles, etc. you won't be able to tell the difference.

Mexican Turkey Burger: This is a great low-carb option because this burger is wrapped in a tortilla instead of eaten on a bun.

Brocco Burger: A yummy way to get your serving of broccoli and for vegetarians to enjoy a burger.

Fries

Fresh Rosemary French Fries: A healthy take on a classic favorite- they’re great served with burgers!

Sweet Potato Fries with Sage:  These are so good that you’ll forget they’re made out of sweet potatoes!  Serve with ketchup, low-fat mayo, low-fat dressing, or a healthy dip.

Baked Low-Fat French Fries: These fries bake, so they use very little oil, but they're flavored with so many spices that they taste amazing.

Polenta Fries: This super-easy side dish is deliciously different. All it needs is a little salt and pepper.

Pizza
Whole Wheat Pizza: This is a quick and simple recipe that makes a healthy version of your everyday fast food pizza.

Chicken and Feta Pizzas: These "pizzas" are baked on tortillas, so they're low-carb and you can focus on all the yummy flavors.

White Pizza: Ditch your favorite local pizza joint and make your own healthier pizza!  This white pizza is simply delicious.

Crockpot Pizza: No crust makes this recipe great for low-carb eaters.  And it’s a crockpot recipe, so it’s easy, too!

Fried Chicken

Low-Fat Fried Chicken: This oven-fried technique uses no oil to make delicious chicken.

Low-Carb Oven-Fried Chicken: All the delicious flavor of fried chicken without the excess fat and calories.

Oven-Baked Fried Chicken: If you love fried chicken, but are trying to steer clear of the all the grease, this is a great compromise because it is baked instead of fried.

Mexican

Chicken Taco Salad: This healthy salad is a Weight Watchers recipe, which means it's good for the diet and filling for the stomach.

Black Bean Burrito Bake: Half of the beans are finely chopped to give the filling a thick, creamy consistency. This dish can be made up to 8 hours in advance and chilled; just bring it back to room temperature before baking.

Low-Fat Chicken Enchiladas: Using all low-fat ingredients makes eating healthy a breeze. It’s just like you would normally make enchiladas, but with an added bonus of being low-fat.

Avocado Burritos: This quick no-cook summer dinner is so yummy. It’s perfect for lunches, too.
