By now everyone is aware that too much fat in your diet can lead to heart attacks and stroke. But when you start to remove the fat from your diet it seems as if you can't eat any of your favorite foods such as cookies, steak and ice cream. Fortunately, in recent years great strides have been made to create recipes that are not only low-fat but also taste great. Low Fat Snack Recipes
This is a great way to eat fruit. Use this as a garnish, relish, spread or eat it right out of the bowl!
2 Granny Smith apples
2 red apples
1 pear, peach or plum
1 can light cherry pie filling
1 can crushed pineapple
2 tsp. cinnamon
3 tsp. brown sugar (more if needed)
1 dried prune or apricot
raisins or dried cranberries
Peel apples and other fruit. Put dried fruit in food processor and chop finely. Add 1/2 can cherry pie filling to food processor and pulse (do not puree!). Add apples slowly. Empty into bowl. Add pineapple, cinnamon, and sugar and stir. Put in fridge to chill.
Low Fat Main Dish Recipes
Whole Wheat Pizza
This is a quick and simple recipe that makes a good pizza that is healthy for you.
3/4 C. warm water
1 pkg. dry yeast
2 C. whole wheat flour
2 Tbs. olive oil
1 pinch sugar
1/2 tsp. honey
1 bag shredded low-fat mozzarella cheese
6 oz. pizza sauce
Toppings of your choice
Mix together yeast water, sugar and honey. Add flour. Knead. Put oil on bottom of your bowl and place dough on top. Roll around in the oil and cover. Let set and rise for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease pizza pan. Roll out dough to size and roll up the edges of the dough to form a wall so your toppings don't spread out of the pizza. Poke holes on bottom of the dough. Pour sauce and spread out. Cover with 1/3 of the cheese. Put half the toppings. Put another 1/3 of the cheese, the rest of the toppings and then the rest of the cheese. Bake for 25 minutes or until cheese is melted.

For a yummy treat that’s easier on your waistline, try this bread infused with mini chocolate chips.
2-1/4 C. reduced-fat Bisquick
1 package(4 serving size) Jell-O sugar-free instant chocolate pudding mix
2/3 C. nonfat dry milk powder
1/4 C. Splenda
2 Tbs. mini chocolate chips
1/4 C. chopped walnuts
2 large eggs slightly beaten
3/4 C. fat-free vanilla yogurt
1/2 C. cold water
2 tsp. canola oil
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees F. Spray a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan with butter-flavored cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine baking mix, dry pudding mix, dry milk powder, sugar substitute, chocolate chips and walnuts. In a small bowl, combine eggs, yogurt, water, oil, and vanilla extract. Add the liquid mixture to the dry mixture. Mix gently just to combine. Evenly spread batter into prepared loaf pan. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Place loaf pan on a wire rack and let set for 10 minutes. Remove bread from pan and continue cooling on wire rack. Cut into 12 slices.
