Make Your Own Taco Seasoning

It wasn't until recently that I learned those little taco seasoning packets may contain more than you think. I always thought it was just a bunch of seasoning thrown together, but that's not the case.

Turns out they can contain a lot of unnecessary ingredients. For example, sugar, way too much salt, citric acid and artificial coloring. Does taco seasoning really need those extra ingredients?

The answer is no. And I doubt you want to be eating chemically enhanced tacos. Make your own taco seasoning and you get to pick what spices to include. You can also adjust how spicy you want it to be if you make it yourself.

  • 1 Tbs. chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. sea salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper

Mix together and store in an airtight container.
