New York City Food Events

As one of the most bustling cities in the world, New York city offers countless food festivals and other events. Here are a few of these food events to wet your appetite. Recipe4Living's look at NYC is only the beginning so be sure to check back often as we add more cities and festivals nation-wide.

March 25, 2007-Jewish Food Festival- With plenty of kid's activities and door prizes while you sample the best of Jewish food in NYC, this is a perfect event for the entire family.

 

April 14, 2007-CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) City Fair- Although the conference is intended for CSA farmers, the fair is open to the public from 4:30-6:30 pm to showcase the CSA sites and feature complimentary food, beer, and wine.

 

April 16, 2007- Queen's A Taste of the World Festival- Sample drinks and dishes from over forty restaurants including Greek, Turkish, and Thai, and vote for your favorites.

 

April 21, 2007-Taste of Chinatown- Pick up a tasting map and sample $1 and $2 portions from over restaurants, tea houses, and bakeries in Chinatown. Peking Duck House is always a festival favorite. 

 

May 2007- Ninth Avenue International Food Festival- Although exact dates and times are yet to be announced, this is a long festival during May in which the streets along ninth avenue are filled with booths offering ethnic food from all over the world.

 

May 19, 21, 2007-New York Culinary Festival- Stroll along Pier 94 for live music, cooking demonstrations, and dishes from restaurants all over NYC, including the Original Soup Nazi.

 

May 20, 2007- Taste of Tribeca- Purchase a $45 tasting card for six dishes from the 59 participating Tribeca restaurants. The proceeds benefit art programs in the area.

 

June, 2007- Restaurant Week- During a week in June, restaurants all over NYC offer three-course, prix-five menus for a  price that coincides with the year ($20.07 this year).

July 8-10, 2007-53rd Summer Fancy Food Show- Several thousand exhibitors from all over the world will be presenting specialty foods for you to try. While it sounds great, this is a trade-only show for people from specialty food stores, groceries, and restaurants.

 

October 25-27, 2007- Cook. Eat. Drink. Love.- This is a special, invitation only food and drink event benefiting the Make-a-Wish Foundation. September 14-24, 2007- Feast of San Gennaro- This 79th annual food festival in Little Italy celebrates the patron saint of Naples with music, parades, and over 300 street vendors offering authentic Italian fare. Signature sausage and cannoli are well recommended. September 15 is the cannoli-eating contest and the 19 is the official feast day.

 

September 27, 2007- The Joy of Sake- This is the largest sake tasting event outside of Japan with almost 300 different sakes to sample.
