Pack a Picnic on a Budget!

One of the best ways to enjoy the warm weather of spring is to throw a picnic! You don’t need to go all out and host a picnic at a local park or beach either. Hosting it in your backyard can be just as fun, and probably much easier. That way, you can play the music, invite pets and not have to worry about where the kids will be. Plus, it can all be done on a budget!

We’ve included some of our best picnic-ready recipes, all of which are budget-friendly. Hosting a picnic doesn’t have to be expensive at all. With sandwiches, pasta salads and cookies, you’ll have a gourmet affair for the half the price!

Presentation Pointers:

  1. If you’re not prepared with all the transporting and storage you need for the food, a picnic can go sour really quickly. Luckily, there are only three things you really need: a cooler stocked with ice or ice packs, a picnic basket and lots of food storage containers.
  2. Generally, bringing super sweet treats like ice cream or a rich cake isn’t such a good idea. Of course, all those desserts are delicious, but you won’t be the only one that thinks so. Insects happen to love sweets too!
  3. Most of the time, you want the weather to be warm, sunny and plain old beautiful. But that means that you’ll also need to pack sunscreen and insect repellent. Trust us, you’ll be the savior of the group if you bring those two bottles!
