Rice Crispy Treats Recipes, Hints & Videos

Every kid knows about the sugary goodness of Rice Crispy Treats. But did you know that Rice Krispie treats were invented in 1939 by Mildred Day and the staff at the Kellogg Company home economics department? Back then, just like today, food companies were constantly trying to find ways for consumers to buy their products over those of their competitors.

Served as both a snack and a dessert, Rice Crispy Treats are made with Rice Krispies, butter and marshmallow. They are quick and easy to make and come in a variety of different flavors and shapes. In fact, in the last several decades, these tiny treats have become a staple at many holiday gatherings. Though the snack has many variations in spelling like Rice Crispy, Rice Crispie, Rice Krispy or Rice Krispie Treats, there's no denying that whatever the spelling, Rice Crispy Treats have become a household name.
