sparkling white wines are girlawhirl’s favorite way to celebrate
And while she can always find a half bottle, or split, of Champagne, those are saved for splurges. Her refrigerator staple comes in a pretty pink can, and it’s called Sofia. From Francis Ford Coppola’s vineyards and named for his daughter, it’s made from a mixture of dry pinot blanc and sauvignon blanc grapes with just a bit of muscat grapes for sweetness. The cans come with straws attached, making it feel like a party, even if it’s just Girlawhirl and a Super Pal who are indulging with a takeout dinner.
When they’re out, Girlawhirl and her Super Pals can usually find Sofia wherever they go, but recently some of their favorite hot spots have started offering another single-serving sparkler, called KARMA. This one comes in a wide mouthed bottle designed specifically for sipping and it’s also made from California grapes giving it a clean, crisp, dry taste. It’s not in stores yet, just in select nightspots in New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
