Throw a Healthy Bridal Shower Party

Throw a Healthy Bridal Shower Party

Summer is the season of weddings, and it’s your turn to host a bridal shower in your home. Skip the heavy stuff for this party. No bride-to-be is going to want to pack on any extra pounds before the big day. Instead, try some low fat and low-calorie dishes that she will really thank you for.

Bridal showers are happy occasions, and throwing a shower for a friend or family member will make her grin from ear to ear. Once she sees how healthy this meal is, you might just be every guest's maid of honor!

Rice Salad with Black Beans
Pear and Gorgonzola Salad
Gourmet Crab Ring

Angel Hair Pasta with Zucchini and Bread Crumbs
Lemon Fish Casserole
Tortellini with Broccoli

Side Dishes
Of course veggies are the traditional sides for a healthy meal, but aim for something a little more out of the ordinary!

For the finale, allow your guests to splurge a little bit!

These tasty drinks will put a smile on the bride’s face. They’re still sweet without the throwaway calories!

Presentation Pointers:

  1. Liven up this party with some fun games. Play “What’s in the Bag!” Before the shower, come up with a list of items most women have in their purses, such as a cell phone, a pen, blush, etc. Assign each item a point value. The person that has the most of the points wins!
  2. Instead of distributing expensive party favors, opt for something a little more budget-friendly but still creative. Any ideas? The candy Ring Pops! Not only is this a cute idea, but Ring Pops actually look like big engagement rings. Make sure to take a picture of all the guests flashing their bling.
  3. Background music is a good idea and will keep guests entertained even when they don’t feel like socializing. Ask the bride-to-be to help you decide on a playlist or radio station that she enjoys.
