What is Recipe4Living?

Recipe4Living is dedicated to fostering an online community interested in cooking, thinking, and living. Through reader feedback and contribution, we strive to create a meaningful space for people to come together and communicate about important topics ranging from the best cheesecake recipe to grilling tips to current trends in dieting. Recipe4Living understands that the best ideas come from a diverse community working together. So far, users have submitted more than 20,000 recipes (and counting...). Is this a free service?

Yes, Recipe4Living is a free user-submitted recipe website. It is free to have an account with us, and it's also free to receive our newsletters. At no point does Recipe4Living collect credit card information so there is no way for us to charge you. Please be cautious when sharing this information with advertisers.


What is Chew on That blog?

Chew on That is the official blog of Recipe4Living. The editors of Recipe4Living blog daily about their favorite recipes, food stories, restaurant reviews and much more! How do I sign up for Recipe4Living?

To register for Recipe4Living and take advantage of all of the social networking features like a Recipe Box, Shopping List and Recipe Commenting, click here. Fill in all the required fields on the first page including and then select "Continue". Fill your profile information and then select "Complete Sign Up And Go To My Account". Register


How do I submit a recipe?

In order to submit a recipe, you must first register an account (registration is absolutely free and just enables you to submit and save recipes). To register, click here Once you are signed on, click on "Share A Recipe" next to the search bar or right here

Please fill in all the required fields including title, summary, ingredients, directions and an appropriate category for your recipe. Once you have submitted your recipe, one of our editors will need to approve it. This process may take 24-72 business hours. You will receive an e-mail confirmation once your recipe has been published.


I want to submit a recipe, but it keeps telling me to sign in. What do I do?

In order to submit a recipe to Recipe4Living, you have to be a registered member. Registration is absolutely FREE and only takes a few moments. You can register here and fill out all the required information, including creating a username and password.


I registered on Recipe4Living, but I still can't sign in. What's going on?

There are a couple possibilities why this is happening.

1.You aren't registered for Recipe4Living. Even if you receive our newsletter, you are not automatically set up with a login. You must create a username and password here.

2.You need your password changed. It's possible that your password is not what you think it is. No problem! Just fill out our contact form and we'll change it for you right away so you can get signed in again.


I am unable to register. Can you help?

It's possible that you have already registered with Recipe4Living, and that is why you are having trouble trying to register again. In order to see if you have already registered, contact us here and we will check for you.


How do I comment on a recipe?

To comment on a recipe, you first need to log in using your username/email address and password. Then, find the recipe you are interested in commenting on. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the recipe to find a comment box. Add your comment and submit it.


How do I enter a contest?

To see the full list of current Recipe4Living contests, click here. Once you find a contest you are interested in, log into your Recipe4Living account. Then click here to submit your recipe, or press "Share a Recipe" in the left upper corner of the Recipe4Living page. When submitting your recipe, make sure to mention which contest it is for. Good luck!


How do I start a recipe box?

The first thing you need to do is log in to your Recipe4Living account. Once you've done that, just start searching to find the first recipe you'd like to add to your recipe box. Once you've found it, simply click "Add to Recipe Box." It has a heart symbol next to it. Once you've done that, the recipe is saved in your recipe box.


How do I get to my recipe box?

To access your recipe box, first log in to your Recipe4Living. Then click on your username in the top right corner. You'll see on the right-hand sign that there is a link to "Recipe Box." Click that and you'll be able to see all the recipes you have added to your recipe box.


How do I sign up to receive the Recipe4Living newsletter and what does that include?

To sign up for the Recipe4Living newsletter, just click here to enter your email address. The newsletter is completely free (just like everything else on Recipe4Living!). You will receive six issues a week, plus special offers items from our partners. Your newsletter subscription will include a 7 Day Meal Planner every Sunday, plus more recipes, cooking tips, contests and more throughout the week. Sign up now!


Where can I unsubscribe from the newsletter?

We're sad to see you go, but we aim to make the unsubscribe process as easy as possible. If you need to unsubscribe from the newsletter, please click here and allow 48 hours for your email to be removed.


I want to be a product tester, but I don't know where to sign up.

Can I print a recipe without printing the whole page with the banners and other stuff?

Absolutely. Simple navigate to the recipe you want to print and click the printer-friendly icon in the upper right-hand corner of the recipe. Hint: it looks like a printer. Make sure you have pop-ups enabled in your browser, otherwise you won't see the printer-friendly version that comes up.


I have a really great cooking tip, kitchen shortcut or other helpful advice that I want to share. Where can I send it?

Great! Send us your tip here and we'll add it to our Encyclopedia of Tips and we may even publish it in our newsletter!


How do I download an eCookbook?

To see all of the free Recipe4Living eCookbooks, simply click here! You can go through all the eCookbooks there. Then find the one you'd like to download, and click on its link. You will be directed to the PDF of the cookbook.


How do I find the recipe I just submitted?

Once you have submitted your recipe, one of our editors will need to approve it. This process may take 24-72 business hours. You will receive an e-mail confirmation once your recipe has been published. If more time goes by and you still do not receive an e-mail about your recipe, please contact us here, as it may not have gone through correctly.


I can't remember my password. What do I do?

All you need to do is contact us here, and we will get it changed for you within 24-72 business hours.


What do the chef hats on the recipes mean?

Here is how our rating system works: Each user is allowed to rate a recipe once and give that recipe a rating of 1-5 chef hats. The chef hats then accumulate as more and more people rate that recipe. For example, 20 chef hats might mean that 4 people gave that recipe 5 chef hats.


Where are the nutrition facts?

Adding nutritional information to our recipes is something we are working on with the new site design. We hope to have this feature available in the near future.
