In the mood for some donuts, but too lazy to fry them the old fashioned way? With this recipe, you don’t have to fry them or worry about excess oil. For all you donut lovers out there, this recipe is for you. Not only is this recipe perfect for fall and upcoming holidays, it’ll make you forget about regular everyday donut.

  • 1 cup of apple cider
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup of light brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of baking powder
  • 5 tablespoons of unsalted butter, melted
  • 6 tablespoons of buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • Garnish:
  • Cinnamon sugar
  • Unsalted melted butter

Using a small sauce pan, pour the apple cider and cinnamon stick and bring it to a boil for 15 minutes.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, and brown sugar. Slowly add the buttermilk to the mixture and stir nicely. Then, add the egg and vanilla extract. Sprinkle the cinnamon in the mixture along with the flour. Stir well. Next, add the baking powder and salt. Slowly add the apple cider and stir until there are no lumps.
Using a nonstick donut pan, add the donut batter into the pan. Be sure to wipe any excess from the sides and holes. You can use a spoon or pour the batter into a plastic bag and snip the tip for better control. Bake the donuts for about 10-12 minutes.
Once the donuts are slightly cooled, carefully remove the donuts from the pan and dip them in melted butter along with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.
