This simple meatloaf is made with ground ham for a different taste and texture than that of beef. The homemade sweet sauce brings it all together.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 lb. ground ham
  • 1/2 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 egg
  • 1 C. crushed cracker crumbs
  • 1 pint milk
  • Sauce:
  • 1/2 C. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 C. water
  • 1/3 C. vinegar
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard

Directions

Mix all ingredients well and form into a loaf. Place in pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Pour off fat.

To make the sauce, mix all ingredients in a saucepan and heat until sugar is melted. Pour over ham loaf and bake for another hour, basting often.

Yield: 12 servings
