All-Purpose Pasta Sauce

This is a fabulous meat sauce to make ahead of time and keep in the fridge for a quick and easy dinner with very little work.

  • 3 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 lb. Italian sausage
  • 1 lb. ground pork
  • 4 large onions
  • 3 whole green peppers, chopped up
  • 1/2 bunch celery
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 3 Tbs. oregano
  • 2 Old Bay leaves
  • 3 packs spittini (or any other pasta)
  • 1/4 C. soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 Tbs. garlic powder, optional
  • 2 large cans diced tomatoes
  • 2 large cans tomato sauce
  • 3 cans tomato paste
  • 1 can water to rinse out cans
  • 2 jars Ragu

Brown meats, then drain. Mix with the onions, peppers, and celery. Add spices. After every thing is sautéed, add rest of ingredients. Cook for 5 hours on very low flame. Make sure you stir every time you walk past this pot. Tomatoes will burn fast if you don't. Remove bay leaves. Cool, divide, and freeze in freezer bags. Use the 1/2 gallon size, and put enough for 1 meal. Use to make spaghetti, lasagna, and add chili powder to it for chili. Great with pasta shells.
