American Cheese Fondue

Ingredients
- 4 large celery stalks
- 4 medium carrots
- 2 red eating apples
- 1 small cucumber
- 1/4 14-inch long loaf French bread
- 1 Tbs. butter
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 garlic clove, cut in half
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 C. milk
- 1 12 oz. pkg. American cheese slices, diced
Directions
About 30 minutes before serving, cut celery stalks and carrots into thin sticks; cut
apples into wedges; slice cucumber; cut bread into 1 inch chunks. Arrange vegetables, fruit, and bread on large platter, leaving center free. In 1 quart saucepan over medium heat, melt butter; add onion, garlic, and chili powder; cook until onion is tender, stirring occasionally; discard garlic. Add milk and cheese; cook, stirring until cheese is melted and smooth.
To serve, pour fondue into bowl in center of platter. Let each person spear vegetables, fruit, or bread on a fork and dip in fondue.
