Crispy around the edges, these soft and chewy blondies are a great treat. The apple butter marble swirl even makes it sweeter and you can spread your favorite homemade vanilla frosting on top too!

  • 6 Tbs. butter
  • 1 C. packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 C. whole white wheat flour
  • 1/2 C. all purpose flour
  • 1/4 C. chocolate chips
  • 1/3 C. apple butter
  • 1 can vanilla frosting

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 10-by-7-inch baking dish. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Beat in egg and vanilla. Mix in salt, flours and chocolate chips. Pour batter into prepared pan. Spoon the apple butter into 4 strips. Drag a spoon through the batter to create a marbled effect. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until set in the middle. Let it cool before cutting into bars.
