  • Donuts
  • 3 T. unsalted butter
  • 1/3 C. and 2 T. apple cider
  • 1 C. all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ C. granulated sugar
  • 2 T. honey
  • 1 egg
  • Topping
  • 3 T butter
  • ¼ C. apple cider
  • 1/3 C. fine sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 400 degrees and spray donut pan. In a small pot melt butter, stir in cider, and once blended set aside to cool. In a bowl whisk flour, baking powder, sea salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg and again set aside. Once butter/cider mixture has cooled whisk in sugar, honey, and egg until smoothly combined. Mix flour mixture and butter mixture until ingredients are just barely combined. Over mixing can cause dense donuts. Add batter to piping bag or baggie with a corner cut off for easy and even piping of mixture into the sprayed donut pan. Bake for 7 minutes and once done move to cooling rack. While donuts are cooling, melt butter and stir in cider again for topping. Then combine sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl. When donuts are cool dip them in butter mixture and then toss into sugar mixture until coated. Served best same day, slightly warm.
