This cookie is tasty and a bit different. The cinnamon chips are only available during the holidays, so I always purchase several and keep them in the freezer so I can make these yummy cookies throughout the year. You will receive many requests for this recipe after you serve them.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C. butter (softened)
  • 1 1/3 C. brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 C. milk
  • 2 C. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 3/4 C. chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
  • 1 C. dried apples, diced
  • 1 10-oz. pkg cinnamon chips**

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Sift flour, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves together and set aside. In large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar together, add egg and milk and blend well. Slowly add dry ingredients and beat together until mixed well. With large wooden spoon, blend in apples, nuts and cinnamon chips. Drop onto ungreased cookie sheet by teaspoon and bake at 400 degrees for 9-10 minutes until lightly brown on top. Bake on middle rack to avoid getting too brown on the bottom. Cool and remove from pan.

Yields approximately 4 ½ to 5 dozen cookies.

** These chips are only available during the holidays. Buy extra bags to keep in the freezer.
