Apple Pizza
Ingredients
- Pastry for a single piecrust
- 5 large apples (Winesap, Rome Beauty, Fuji, Jonagold)
- 1/2 C. grated cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss cheese
- 1/2 C. brown sugar
- 1/2 C. chopped walnuts
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 2 Tbs. butter
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease a 12-inch pizza pan. Roll the pastry into a 13-inch circle and place in the greased pizza pan. Form a rim around the edges. Bake for 10 minutes. Peel, core, and cut the apples into 1/4 -inch slices. Arrange on the pizza crust and sprinkle with the Cheddar. Mix the sugar, walnuts, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle on top of the cheese. Cut the butter into small pieces and dot over the top. Bake for 20 minutes or until the apples are tender. Serve hot. Yield: 8 servings.
