  • 1 C flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 Tbs sugar

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 large egg
1 1/4 C buttermilk

  • 4 apples
Vegetable oil
  • Deep Fry Thermometer

Whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, sugar and salt in bowl. Stir together eggs and buttermilk in separate bowl, add to flour mixture and whisk just until combined.

Slice the apples horizontally into thick disks. Cut each apple slice into rings and remove the center core.

Add 3 inches of oil to a large heavy pot, and heat on mediums until temperature reaches 350º.

Dip apple rings in batter, shake off any excess, then lower them into the pot. Cook fritters in oil, flipping them with tongs so they brown on all sides, then transfer onto a stack of paper towels.

Serve the apple fritters immediately after draining.
