  • 2 Granny Smith apples, cored, peeled, cut in half and then sliced
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cane syrup
  • ½ teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1-1/3 cups flour
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup whole milk, warmed
  • 6 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • powdered sugar

Preheat the oven to 350F and spray an iron skillet with baking spray. In a bowl, mix together the apples, brown sugar, cane syrup and pie spice. In a large bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together. In yet a separate bowl, whisk the egg, butter, milk and vanilla. Mix the flour mixture and the egg mixture together. Pour into the greased skillet and then arrange the apples on top. Bake for 35 minutes and then garnish with powdered sugar before serving.
