Apple Sponge
Ingredients
- Apples, sliced
- 1/2 lb. brown sugar
- 3 eggs, well beaten
- 2 Tbs. water
- l/2 C. sugar
- Grated rind of l lemon
- 3/4 C. flour
- l tsp. baking powder
Directions
Grease anĀ 8x10-inch cake tin generously. Fill the bottom one inch deep with apples, sliced as for pie. Put brown sugar over apples. Cover apples with the above batter. Bake 40 minutes in a moderate 350 degreeĀ oven. Serve with whipped cream and garnish with cherries.
