  • Sauce:
  • 1/2 C finely chopped cucumber
  • 8 oz plain yogurt
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 Tbs lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp dill
  • Gyro:
  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1/2 C minced onion
  • 4 cloves garlic - minced
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • Bread and Toppings:
  • 4 pita bread pockets
  • 1/4 C minced onion
  • 1 large red pepper, seeded and diced

To make Tzatziki sauce, first chop the cucumber and pat the slices dry with a few paper towels.

After draining its standing liquid, add the yogurt to your cucumber. Add the remaining sauce ingredients, stir and refrigerate for a few hours.

To make Gyro meat slices, mix lamb and spices together in a bowl and form them into thin long patties. Cook Gyro meat on grill at medium high for up to 4 minutes on each side, then remove. Place in bread pockets with onion, pepper, and sauce, then serve.
