  • 2 1/4 C. flour
  • 1/2 C. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 C. butter, softened
  • 2 1/4 C. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 C. sour cream
  • 1/2 C. buttermilk
  • 1 oz. red food coloring
  • 4 tsp. pure vanilla extract

Preheat your oven to 350°F and paper line 24 muffin cups. In a medium bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add in sour cream, buttermilk, food coloring, and vanilla. Slowly add in flour mixture and beat on low speed until just blended. Spoon batter into your lined cupcake tins and bake for 20 minutes. Let cool before decorating with your favorite frosting and sprinkles.
