Bacon-Wrapped Chestnuts

Not exactly chestnuts roasting on an open fire... but it's a lot more tasty!

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. thick cut bacon
  • 2 8 oz. cans water chestnuts

Directions

Slice bacon in half; wrap one-piece bacon around one chestnut. Skewer with toothpick to hold in place. Broil in toaster or conventional oven, turning frequently, until the bacon is evenly cooked. Serve warm.

Yield: 24 servings.

  • I would not forget anything for the simple fact everyone's taste are different and all the ideas and comments are great! I've made these many times with many different variations. My taste seems to differ each time I make them. Great recipe!!

  • Forget the sugar, just use Ponzu sauce (it is more flavorful than soy sauce and is used for dumplings). I would cut the bacon slice in half. You couldn't eat more than a few (too much salt and fat). Sounds delicious though!!!!

  • Ignore the last comment. to make this even more intersting make a sweet sour sauce using 20 ounces of Ketchup, 1cup shite sugar, and 1cup Brown sugar in a 2 at. pan simmer till all sugar is dissolved. pour over warm chestmnuts and serrve. Even children love this. take it from a grandm,other of 9 and great grandmother of 3. This also workd great on Cocktai smoked weiners.

  • I have been making these for years. The day before, I mix 1 cup Soy Sauce and 1 cup of Sugar. Let water chestnuts marinate overnight before wrapping in bacon.
    WONDERFUL!
