Bacon-Wrapped Water Chestnuts

I'm always asked for the recipe whenever I make these bacon wrapped water chestnuts! They don't last long at a party!

Ingredients

  • 2 cans whole water chestnuts
  • 1 1/2 lb. bacon slices, cut into thirds
  • 3/4 C. ketchup
  • 1/3 C. white sugar
  • 1/3 C. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbs. vinegar
  • 1 Tbs. soy sauce

Wrap bacon around chestnuts, using a toothpick to hold together (you can cut the bigger water chestnuts in half.) Place on foil-lined cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until bacon looks done. Transfer bacon wrapped water chestnuts to 9x12-inch cake pan.  Mix the remaining ingredients together in saucepan and heat to a boil. Pour the mixture over the water chestnuts. Before serving, microwave them or warm them in the oven.
