Barbecued Shrimp

15 min preparation + 25 min cooking

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. shrimp, washed and shelled
  • 2 sprigs celery, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbs. wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • dash pepper
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1/3 C. olive oil
  • 1 C. tomato sauce
  • 1/2 C. water
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 C. chopped parsley

Directions

Sauté onion, celery and seasonings in olive oil, stirring constantly until soft and golden. Add shrimp, and stir over high flame until moisture is absorbed. Add wine vinegar, then tomato sauce and water. Cook about 25 minutes.

  • LittleMo, it looks like this is actually a recipe you make on your stove, not your grill. I think the barbecue part is just the flavor of seasonings used.

  • Isn't twenty-five minutes rather a long time to cook shrimp? They take minutes on the stove, but I've never barbequed, so maybe that's the difference. How would this taste on the stovetop, I wonder? Sounds delightful as is....
