Beef Brisket Bar-B-Q Sandwich

I have had this recipe for about 10 years. I have not shared it with anyone, not even family. But it's very very good. The moment you smell it cooking, you got to have it. It's our summer favorite and it goes a long ways!

  • 1/2 brisket of beef (not corned) or pork, flat
  • 1 12-oz. can Coke (if you do pork, use ginger ale)
  • salt and pepper
  • garlic salt
  • liquid smoke (not much smoke, just about 2 drops per side)
  • barbeque sauce

Place brisket in a large container or Ziploc bag with the Coke. Allow to marinate for 12 hours or overnight. Discard the coke juices. Rub in on both sides of briskeT: salt, pepper, garlic salt and liquid smoke. Place in a large roasting bag or pan with tight lid. Bake at 350 degrees for about 3 hours. Baste every hour if you used roasting pan. When it falls apart, it is done. When serving, mix sauce in beef just until moist nad juicy. Serve on seeded bun with pickle and chips or fries.
