Beef & Gravy over Rice

My mom used to make this when I was a kid and she called it mince. I don't know why! It's not anything near what most people think of as mince! It is a budget-friendly comfort food to feed your family. It easily doubles or triples to make as much as you need. This is a regular and appears on our menu about twice a month. We like to use 2 packets of gravy mix for more sauce but my mom only used 1.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbs. bottled minced garlic
  • 1 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1-2 packets brown gravy mix
  • hot cooked rice or mashed potatoes, for serving

Directions

Brown ground beef and onion in a large nonstick skillet and drain. Meanwhile, mix the contents of the gravy packet with water as called for on packet. Add the meat back to the skillet and add garlic and Worcestershire. Pour the gravy over beef and heat to a boil. Cook and stir until desired thickness. Serve over hot cooked rice or mashed potatoes.
