Best Layered Tostada Bake Recipe

This homemade Mexican dish has it all: beef, beans, chilies and cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 envelope taco seasoning mix
  • 1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1 16 oz. can refried beans
  • 1 4 oz. can chopped green chilies
  • 1/2 C. sliced ripe olives
  • 1 C. Bisquick Original Baking Mix
  • 1/2 C. cornmeal
  • 1/4 C. milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 Tbs. vegetable oil
  • 1 C. sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 2 C. shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease rectangular baking dish, 12x7 1/2x2-inches. Cook and stir ground beef and onion in 10-inch skillet until beef is brown; drain. Stir in seasoning mix, tomato sauce, beans, chilies, and olives. Mix Bisquick., cornmeal, milk, beaten egg, and oil until moistened; beat vigorously 30 seconds. Spread in prepared baking dish. Spoon beef mixture over dough. Mix remaining ingredients; spoon over beef mixture. Bake uncovered 30 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.

  • I thought this was very good. My husband doesn't like sour cream so I left that off and just put cheese on top of the meat. Without the sour cream he said it was a little dry and needed taco sauce for it. I think this recipe is great and will serve it to guests.
