Shrimp is one of our favorite shellfish to eat. It can be cooked in so many different ways and each way brings out some different taste from it. Popcorn shrimp is fried and that brings out a taste in the shrimp that can’t be brought out in other way. This recipe is closely similar to the Thai Phoon Shrimp at Ruby Tuesday.

  • 1 lb. shrimp, deveined and peeled
  • 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • ¼ cup wheat flour
  • 1 egg
  • 5 tbsp. almond milk
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder

In a deep pan over high heat, pour in oil. Place flour in a bowl, set aside. Combine eggs and milk in a bowl, stir thoroughly. Set aside. Place bread crumbs, garlic and onion powder in a bowl, set aside. Dip shrimp in flour, then into egg mix, then into breadcrumbs. Fry each shrimp for about 5 minutes. Allow shrimp to drain on a paper towel, then serve.
