Black Walnut Cake
Ingredients
- 2 1/3 C. of flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 C. shortening
- 1 1/2 C. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 eggs, separated
- 2/3 C. of milk
- 1 1/2 C. black walnuts
Directions
Cream sugar and shortening together. In a separate bowl, beat egg yolks. Add beaten egg yolks to sugar mix. Add sifted flour and beat. Add milk and beat. Beat in egg whites, add nut meats and beat. Pour batter into 2 cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
