  • 6 cups fresh blackberries
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ cup + 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons butter, cold and cut into pieces
  • 2 cups cold heavy cream
  • ¾ cup toasted pecans, coarsely chopped

Preheat oven to 375°F. Combine the blackberries, sugar, lemon juice and cornstarch in a large bowl. Mix and let sit for 10 minutes at room temperature. Transfer the berries and their juices to a baking dish. Place the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter and heavy cream and mix until small crumbles form. Spoon the mixture over the fruit and then sprinkle the sugar and pecans over that. Bake for 35-45 minutes until the topping is golden brown.
