Boston Cream Cookies
Ingredients
- 1/2 C. sugar
- 1/2 C. shortening
- 1/2 C. molasses
- 1 egg
- 1/4 C. buttermilk
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. vinegar
- 2 1/8 C. flour
- Frosting:
- 2 Tbs. butter
- 2 Tbs. cream
- 1 C. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions
Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Add molasses and beat. Add buttermilk and beat. In a cup, add soda to vinegar and mix into batter. Add sifted dry ingredients. Drop on cookie sheet by spoonfuls. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Frosting:
Bring butter and cream to boil and add powdered sugar. I don't double this recipe because of all the spice.
