Broccoli Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. frozen chopped broccoli
  • 1 C. minute rice
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 8 oz. jar cheese whiz
  • 1 1/2 C. water
  • 1 can cream of mushroom (or celery) soup

Directions

In saucepan, bring water and butter to a boil and add broccoli, boil a few minutes until tender. Add rice and cook over heat for 5 minutes. Add cheese whiz and soup-mix (mixed well together) to pan. Pour into 8 inch casserole dish. Top with bread crumbs if desired. Bake in 350-degree oven for 20-25 minutes.

  • With Velveeta and the ubiquitous can of cream of mushroom soup, this is the worst kind of recipe for anybody. Doesn't anybody know how to make a good sauce with a roux any more? It's really very easy andn tastes so far superior to this junk.

  • If this is supposed to be a "HEALTHY" recipe, why so much fat?? and why no nutritional information?
