Make your own meatballs and sauce for a more authentic Italian experience. If you don't want to do that, using store-bought is fine, too. This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled for more sandwiches.

  • 3-4 Italian meatballs
  • 1/4 C. tomato sauce
  • 1 hoagie roll
  • 2 oz. fresh mozzarella, sliced

Turn the broiler to low and put a rack in the middle of the oven. Warm the meatballs and sauce in a small pan on the stove. Create a pocket in the roll by digging out some of the bread so the meatballs will sit easily. Arrange the meatballs on the roll, cover with sauce, and top with the mozzarella. Place the roll on a baking sheet. Broil for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bread is toasted.
