Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter, unsalted
  • 2 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. Kosher salt
  • ½ C. granulated sugar
  • 1 lg. egg
  • 1 C. light brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 Tbs. milk
  • 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 2 C. bitter or semisweet chocolate, chopped

Cook the butter in a medium saucepan until it is brown. Making sure not to burn the butter. Whisk the salt, flour, and baking soda together in a medium bowl. Beat in the brown butter with light brown and granulated sugars for about several minutes and until the batter is light and fluffy.


Beat in the egg yolk, the whole egg, vanilla and milk, and the chopped chocolate. Use a plastic wrap to cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture overnight.


Divide the mixture in three baking sheets with about 6 cookies per sheet. Bake for 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Remove, let cool and enjoy.
