This cocktail is from The Perfect Purée of Napa Valley. The Brown Derby uses ginger and tamarind purees along with the classic julep ingredient, bourbon for a cocktail that is sweet, tart and spicy all at the same time.

Ingredients

Cocktail:
1 1/2 oz. Knob Creek Single Barrel Bourbon
1 1/2 oz. Perfect Purée Tamarind puree, thawed
1 oz. ginger mix (recipe below)
1/2 oz. lemon juice
Ginger Mix:
2 oz. Perfect Purée Ginger puree, thawed
2 oz. sugar
4 oz. water

Directions

Add all cocktail ingredients into a mixing glass. Add ice, shake, and strain into a glass.

Ginger mix: Add all ginger mix ingredients to a saucepan, heat until sugar dissolves. Cool and set aside.
