  • 1/2 C. rice wine
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 lbs. fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 T. olive oil for deep frying
  • 1/4 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 C. water
  • 1/4 C, cornstarch
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 tsp. Salt
  • ¼ tsp. paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. shortening
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder

In a bowl, mix rice wine and salt and place shrimp into the mixture. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.Heat oil in deep-fryer to 375 degrees F. In a bowl, mix together all-purpose flour, ice water, cornstarch, egg yolk, salt, sugar, shortening, paprika, and baking powder. Then one at a time, dip shrimp into the flour mixture to coat and then place in the oil. Deep fry for about about 2 minutes. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
