  • 1 box devil's food cake mix
  • 1 small box jello instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 C. sour cream
  • 1 C. vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 C. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 C. mini chocolate chips
  • Frosting:
  • 1 C. shortening
  • 4 C. powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/3 C. heavy whipping cream

To make the frosting, cream the shortening until fluffy and add in the sugar. Continue to cream until well blended. Add in the salt, vanilla, and whipping cream. blend on low speed until just combined, then beat on a high speed until the frosting is fluffy.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and grease 2 9-in. baking dishes. In a large bowl, combine everything except the chocolate chips. The batter will be thick. Stir in the chocolate chips. Divide the batter between the 2 baking dishes and bake according to the directions on the back of cake mix box, about 45 minutes. Frost with the icing.
