I never knew what to do with cabbage except boil it until I found this recipe. I've had folks who didn't even LIKE cabbage ask for the recipe - it's delicious, easy and inexpensive to make. Great for "pot luck".

Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 can cream of celery soup, undiluted
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 slices American cheese
  • 40 Ritz Crackers, crushed
  • 1 stick melted butter or margarine, melted

Directions

Quarter, boil and chop cabbage. Place 1/2 the cabbage in a 9x13-inch casserole pan. Spread 1/2 the can of soup over cabbage. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste if desired. Layer 6 slices of cheese.  Repeat layers - cabbage, soup and cheese.  Mix cracker crumbs and melted butter and sprinkle over casserole. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

  • This recipe is almost like the Dillard Hose Cabbage Casserole. It is so good. I agree that people who say they do not like cabbage will love this recipe.
