Green and red cabbage make up this colorful side dish with apple and garlic to balance out the sweet and savory flavors.

  • 1 head green cabbage, cut into strips
  • 2 C. red cabbage, cut into strips
  • 1 large sweet onion, sliced thin and halved
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbs. olive oil
  • 2 Tbs. balsamic vinegar (or wine vinegar)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Combine all ingredients in a large pan or skillet and sauté over medium heat until the cabbage and apples are tender. Season with salt and pepper again before serving as needed.
