  • ½ stick butter
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 C. chicken broth
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • ½ tsp. thyme
  • 1 tsp. red pepper flakes
  • 2 C. corn
  • ½ C. half-and-half
  • 3 T. flour
  • ½ C. milk
  • 2-3 C. crabmeat

In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onion and garlic until fragrant; transfer to your crockpot. Pour in chicken broth, corn, and half-and-half. Season with cayenne, salt, pepper, bay leaf, paprika, oregano, thyme, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and cook on high for 2 hours. Whisk together milk and flour; pour into crockpot along with crabmeat. Cook for an additional 30 to 45 minutes. Use an immersion blender to puree soup until desired texture and serve hot.
