This is a recipe for the old fashioned cinnamon candied apples. I used to make these for the Halloweeners every year and they would make sure they came to my house first to get one before they were all gone.

Directions

Butter a cookie sheet. Wash and dry the apples. Stick the skewers into the stem end of the apples being careful not to go all the way through the apple. Combine sugar, cream of tartar, water, lemon juice and cloves in a heavy saucepan. Stir until sugar dissolves. Add food coloring (just enough to make it red). Without stirring, cook syrup to 300 degrees or hard crack stage. Remove from heat and quickly skim out the cloves. Twist the apples in the syrup, quickly, and set on buttered cookie sheet to harden.

  • Directions call for sugar, however there isn't any sugar listed in the ingredients. Would like to try this recipe but don't want to just guess @ the amt of sugar to use. This isn't the first time I have found either missing ingredients or mising directions.
